Ab nach Berlin!

Haute Couture in der Berliner Kulturbibliothek: In der Ausstellung 'Christian Dior und Deutschland 1947-1957' sind ab 13. Februar 180 Exponate des Designers zu sehen.
Gezeigt werden 20 originale Haute-Couture-Modelle der Jahre 1947 bis 1957 sowie Fotos und zeitgenössische Filmaufnahmen. Die Ausstellung auf 300 Quadratmetern Fläche ist eine Hommage anlässlich Christian Diors 50. Todestages.

Mit der Präsentation der 'Ligne Corolle’ (Blütenkelch-Linie) in Paris erschuf Christian Dior 1947 den 'New Look'. Dieser brachte durch seine neuen Formen und Farben Abwechslung in die triste Mode der Nachkriegszeit.
An der Kollektion des kreativen Designers war alles neu: runde Schultern, kurze Jäckchen, Wespentaille und weite, wadenlange Röcke. Der damals 42-Jährige wurde damit über Nacht zu einem der berühmtesten Modedesigner der Welt.

Die Ausstellung 'Christian Dior und Deutschland 1947-1957' wird vom 13. Februar bis zum 28. Mai 2007 in der Berliner Kunstbibliothek am Potsdamer Platz zu sehen sein.

Latvian designer Kristina Lenss freshens up vintage-inspired fashion with her Kristinit spring line of limited edition silk marvels. Infused with a quiet luxury, Lenss' designs are playfully feminine. Culling from a background of studying design in London, art history in Santa Cruz, and costume design in Los Angeles, Lenss has designed for opera, film, ballet, and skiwear, before focusing her talents on her own line. Heavy on feminine designs worked in pastels and creamy colors on soft silhouettes, Lenss's inspiration is drawn from 1930s and 1940s Hollywood, such as the styles of Marlene Dietrich and costumer Edith Head, to Biba in the 1960s. "I love this kind of romantic blurring of time frames," she says. The result is sophisticated, vintage shapes lightened with droll detailing. Silk chiffon blouses are layered to add a touch of wispy glamour, a lace trimmed kimono top is adorned with carved pearl buttons, and a dropped waist, pleated dress is cast in tropical vintage print. The designer says, "Kristinit is for the girl, who, when old and withering, will be able to look back at pictures of herself and say, "Now I sure was one hot and classy looking girl." —SHELLEY WONG (Nylonmag.com)
